Midweek Lenten Worship at Amazing Grace Lutheran: What We Do & Why

At Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, our midweek Lenten services begin on Ash Wednesday and continue through Lent as a purposeful journey of repentance and renewal.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent with a solemn reminder of our sin and mortality and, above all, God’s grace in Christ. Some services may include the imposition of ashes as a visible symbol of repentance, always understood as a reminder and not a requirement.

Throughout Lent, our midweek services are intentionally simpler in tone and structure. They center on Scripture, preaching, and prayer, with a particular focus on Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation. The Alleluia is set aside, the music is more reflective, and each service prepares us to walk with Jesus to the cross and ultimately to the joy of Easter.

These services are offered as a gift for spiritual growth, calling us to honest repentance and confident faith in forgiveness through Jesus alone.
